Horseshoe Crabs Join Stingrays and Sharks at Stingray Bay
Stingray Bay: A Touching Experience is now even more fascinating with the addition of horseshoe crabs, large
hard-shelled marine arthropods that have ten eyes and ten legs, blue blood and lay green eggs. Females can be up to
12 inches across and up to 20 inches long, while males are generally a few inches smaller. The interactive experience
is open during regular Zoo hours now through September 14, 2008 and provides
visitors an opportunity to reach into a 14,500 gallon saltwater pool and touch the rays,
sharks and horseshoe crabs. Opportunities for feeding the gentle aquatic animals may also be available.
Admission to Stingray Bay is free for members of Fresno Chaffee Zoo and $1 for the
general public.
